Photographs supplied by Glen Yeomans

The plaque commemorates the traditional owners of the land that the Ebenezer Church is built upon.

The Darug or Dharug people are an Aboriginal Australian people, who share strong ties of kinship and, in pre-colonial times, survived as skilled hunters in family groups or clans, scattered throughout much of what is modern-day Sydney.

The Darug territory includes the Cumberland Plain area in Western Sydney, stretching from Wisemans Ferry in the north down to the Camden area in the south. It also extends into the foothills of the Blue Mountains in the west and the Hills District to the east.
