The stained glass window commemorates those lost at sea when the 2/3 Australian Hospital Ship Centaur was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine (I-117) off the southern Queensland coast in May 1943 during World War Two.
268 lost their lives and 64 were rescued. Of the 12 nursing sisters on board, only Sister Ellen Savage survived. Private J J Walder later died of wounds and was subsequently added to the official list of casualties compiled by the Central Army Records Office, Melbourne.
