The memorial hall was erected in memory of the sacrifices of those who served in World War Two. The foundation stone was laid on the 21st July 1951 and the building was opened on the 18th October 1952. Formerly the Congregational Church, the church is now the Killara Uniting Church. 

His Excellency, accompanied by Miss Northcott, and attended by members of the personal staff, on Saturday afternoon declared open the War Memorial Hall of the Killara Congregational Church and subsequently unveiled an honour roll in the hall.
