During World War II the Municipality of Ku-Ring-Gai had the highest per capita air crew volunteers from any part of the British Commonwealth
This plaque was unveiled on 26th August 1982 by His Excellency Air Marshall Sir James Rowland K.B.E., D.F.C., A.F.C., K. St.J. Governor of New South Wales records the outstanding service of these members of the Royal Australian Air Force and is a tribute to the many who gave their lives.
