The trees were planted in 1949 to commemorate ten servicemen from the district who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two.
Trees in memory of ten servicemen who died on active service during World War II will be planted on the foreshore at Port Macdonnell, at 3 p.m. on September 16. Names in order of planting and from east to west are: - J. Paroissien, R. Leggett, W. T. Sheppard, K. M. Morrison, R. M. Butler, J. Norman, R. H. Kerr, M. Meyers, N. H. Praetz and S. C. Garrison. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
