H.M.A.S. "Assault"
1942 - 1945
This plaque is dedicated to all R.A.N. personnel who served as H.M.A.S. Assault
Special Service, Royal Australian Naval Beach Commandos.
Trained to set up assault harbour authority at each landing with their backs to the enemy. Flagged all landing craft to specific beach areas.
Assault trained landing boats crews ferried waves of troops ashore from the 3 L.S.I`s at Tanamerah Bay - Wakde - Morotai - Pananon - Lingayen Gulf - Tarakan - Labuan - Brunei - Balikpapan
