The plaque commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two, and those who served on the site at the between 1941 and 1945.  The plaque was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two. 

A nearby plaque also details that General Sir Thomas Blamey used the building as his headquarters from the 1st August 1942 to 31st December 1944.

"Australia Remembers, 1945 - 1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
