Brighton State School Honour Roll Print Page 
The wooden honour roll commemorates former students who served in World War One. It was unveiled in November 1923 by Sir Alexander Peacock.
In the presence of a large assemblage of children and parents, Sir Alexander Peacock, Minister of Education, unveiled an honor board at the Wilson-street State school, Brighton, yesterday afternoon. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. F. Tate (Director of Education) and Inspector Fussell. Mr. A. E. Chandler, M.L.C., was also present. The honor board, which was of polished Australian blackwood, bears the names of 310 old boys who went to the war, including that of Captain Robert Grieve, V.C. Thirty-nine of those on the board never returned.
