Avenue of HonourPrint Page
The Avenue of Honour consists of English Elm trees planted along Old Sale Road, from Brandy Creek Road to Buln Buln School.
Originally 60 trees were planted to commemorate World War One with a picket fence to protect them. The planting commenced on the 27th July 1918.
The "Avenue of Honor" to the men who have enlisted from the Nilma district is to be commenced on Wednesday afternoon, and we understand that a similar function is to be held at Buln Buln on Saturday afternoon.
West Gippsland Gazette (Warragul), 23rd July 1918.
