Merriton Memorial HallPrint Page 

The former Merriton Memorial Hall was erected to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. The foundation stone for the hall was laid on the 31st August 1921 with the official opening of the hall taking place on the 5th February 1922.
Note : The hall is now a private residence and the marble plaque that was affixed to the front of the building has been removed to Crystal Brook.
Last Sunday the ceremony of unveiling the soldiers' memorial tablet which is placed on the front of the Merriton memorial porch, was performed by Mr Andrew Inglis. Mr R.M.Dennis presided, and Rev Wilkinson and Mr H. K. Lock delivered suitable addresses. The tablet, which is of red granite, is in the form of a shield. In bold gold lettering (inlaid) it bears an inscription and the names of W. Inglis. F. C. T. Kirk. G. C. Munday, and L. Williams. The memorial porch and tablet cost £250. On Wednesday a large number of people assembled to take part in the official opening of the Memorial Hall , which was performed by Mr W. Morrow, M.L.C. Mr R. M. Dennis, who presided, said the idea was to perpetuate the memory of the fallen soldiers and to provide something of benefit to the living.
