Photographs supplied by Henry Moulds
The hall was erected to commemorate those who served in World War One. The foundation stone was laid on the 8th March 1922.
The opening ceremony in connection with the Bute Soldiers' Memorial Hall took place on February 16th, 1923. After the 'Song of Australia' by the children, Mr. D. J. Morris, chairman of the committee, requested the Premier to perform the opening ceremony with a silver key. This was done formally, and a public meeting followed. The hall was crowded to the doors with enthusiastic people.
