Two seats commemorate the ANZAC Mounted Infantry Division who served in World War One. The insignia of the New Zealand fern leaf over the Australian boomerang became the tactical formation sign for the ANZAC Mounted Infantry.
The seats are constructed from Australian polished granite to complement the existing memorial.
The Division was formed in March 1916 and assigned to 1 ANZAC Corps as its mounted formation, together with other support groups. The first General Officer commanding was Major General Harry Chauvel. These troops carried out operations in the Middle East after having been deployed (dismounted) at Gallipoli. The insignia of the New Zealand fern leaf over the Australian boomerang became the tactical formation sign for the ANZAC Mounted Infantry and is depicted on the seats.
