Lavarack Barracks Chapel Memorial Print Page
The monument commemorates soldiers and Officers who have died while posted to units situated on Lavarack Barracks. It does not include the names of members who have been killed in action on operations.
The first plaque laid commemorates a death which occurred in May 1968 and the monument is still being added to. The plaques contain the Rank, name of the soldier, the unit name and the date of the death and a Rising Sun badge.
Lavarack Barracks has been home to many different units since its establishment in the 1960’s. Some units have moved in or out of the barracks, and others have been disbanded or renamed, although the main formation is the 3rd Brigade.
